The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) returns to Dwell on Design Los Angeles this year and is offering more than 18 continuing education sessions on topics ranging from smart homes, to designing for health, to best business practices for professionals of varying levels.
To help us kick off the show, ASID’s CEO Randy Fiser will speak to the importance of building homes that are safeguarded against the devastating effects of natural disasters.
Building for Resiliency. As natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy have shown, the vulnerability of our cities, architects and designers are increasingly looking to build with resiliency in mind. In this discussion, Adrian Benepe, senior vice president and director of city park development for The Trust for Public Land, and Randy Fiser, executive vice president and CEO of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and a consultant to the Make it Right Foundation, will discuss one of the biggest issues of our time. Along with the ways that urban design can strengthen an area’s ability to sustain climate challenges, Benepe and Fiser will look at the ways green infrastructure can benefit cities in general. This session will be held on Fri, May 29 at 4 p.m. on Stage A

In this panel, with designer Christopher Kennedy, David Parrett of Hunter Douglas, Nest Labs’ Mike Soucie, and Katheran Wasson of Big Ass Fans, you’ll get a peek into the future of the IoT from product manufacturers and interior designers on the forefront of the smart home revolution. This course will be held on Fri, May 29 at 11:30 a.m. on Stage A
